Razer Blade board repair: thin chassis, real heat

A Razer Blade puts desktop-class power into a chassis with millimetres of thermal headroom. That design brief is what makes the machine desirable, and it is also what the board lives with: constant thermal cycling, power stages running near their limits, and side vents that lead liquid straight onto the mainboard. When a Blade stops, the fault is usually in that electrical path, and it is usually repairable.

What we fix on Blade boards

Two Blade realities for your quote

Battery swelling is a documented reality of this chassis family. A swollen battery presses on the board and the trackpad, and it is a parts job a shop can do, but the board underneath still gets checked. And heat-stressed solder is the slow fault: machines that have run hot for years develop marginal joints and stages that fail under load rather than at idle. That is measured at the bench, under load, not guessed at.

What to check before you post it

No power and shutdowns under load are the two triages this machine asks for most; if the history includes liquid, read the charging triage for what liquid near the ports does first.

Razer Blade questions

My Blade won't turn on. Is it dead?

Rarely. Charging circuits, DC jacks and power stages are all repairable faults; the no-power triage says which one you are quoting before anything is posted.

Is battery swelling fixable?

Battery swelling is a documented reality of this chassis family. A parts job a shop can handle, while the board underneath gets checked at the bench at the same time.

It crashes under load. Is the GPU dead?

Sometimes it is the GPU's power stages rather than the silicon itself. 'Heat vs power' decides which you are dealing with; the bench measures the stages under load rather than guessing.

How much does the repair cost?

£120 + VAT fixed (post both ways and a 12-month warranty included) or £180 + VAT in the priority slot. Diagnosis is £35 + VAT and is waived when the repair goes ahead.
