Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal data Soldersector Ltd collects, why we hold it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and it is meant to be readable rather than impressive.
Who we are
Soldersector Ltd, Unit 7, Vulcan Road South, Norwich, Norfolk NR6 6AQ — company number 14872931, ICO registration ZA487291. For anything in this notice, contact jobs@soldersector.com.
What we collect
- Account details: business name, contact name, email address, phone number, VAT number (if you give one) and postal address.
- Job records: the devices you send, what is wrong with them, messages on tickets, revised quotes and the audit trail of what happened when.
- Photos: evidence images of items recorded at intake and after repair.
- Money records: invoices and payment records, which we are required to keep for tax purposes.
- Sign-in data: your email for a single-use sign-in link, and a session cookie for the duration of a signed-in visit.
Why we hold it
- To do the job — your account and job records exist to quote, repair, return and invoice the work you send us. This is processing under the contract you accept when you order.
- To run a secure business — rate limiting, session management, fraud and abuse prevention. This is our legitimate interest, kept as light as it can be.
- To meet the law — company and tax record-keeping.
We do not use your data for marketing, we do not profile you, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
Cookies
The site uses one cookie: a session cookie set only when you sign in, so the server knows it is you. It is strictly necessary, it is not used for tracking, and it disappears when you sign out or it expires. There are no advertising or analytics cookies to consent to.
Who sees your data
Your data is handled by the Soldersector bench and nobody else, except where a service genuinely needs a third party: the mail system that delivers sign-in links and job emails, the payment provider that will process card payments, and our accountant for the records. Each of these sees only what their job needs. We never publish your details, and we never contact your customers.
How long we keep it
Account and job records are kept for six years after the last activity, to cover tax and warranty obligations. Photos are kept with the job records. Session and sign-in data expires in days at most. After the retention period, records are deleted.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, have wrong details corrected, ask us to delete what we are not required to keep, restrict or object to certain processing, and complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). To use any of these, email jobs@soldersector.com — we answer within a month, usually much sooner. If you ask us to delete something we must keep for tax purposes, we will explain what and why.
Keeping it safe
Sign-in links are single-use and expire in 20 minutes. Sessions are limited to 30 days and can be ended from your account page at any time. The site runs over HTTPS only, photos are served privately to your account and the bench, and access to the admin side is password-protected with a single strong credential.
