Alienware board repair
Alienware machines give their boards more thermal headroom than most gaming laptops, and still push their power delivery hard. The failure pattern that reaches this bench is therefore skewed towards the electrical side: charging circuits, DC jacks, and GPU/CPU power stages that have taken years of sustained load. All of it is diagnosable work, and all of it lands in the same fixed price as every other laptop on the bench.

What we fix on Alienware boards
- No power, no charge light: DC jack damage and charging-circuit faults measured in order
- GPU power-stage failures, including shorts that hold the whole machine down
- Liquid damage: cleaned, rebuilt and retested at component level
- Boot and firmware faults: the machine that powers but never posts properly
- Thermal faults that survive a repaste: the voltage-regulator stages, not the paste
- Previous-repair damage: torn pads, overheated areas, mystery components
What to check before you post it
Run the no-power triage first; if the machine dies under load instead, heat vs power decides which repair you are quoting. The adapter matters on these machines. Send the customer's actual charger with the job, because a tired adapter reproduces "the GPU is dying" for free.
Alienware questions
Do you take desktop-replacement models?
Everything Alienware sells as a laptop, old and new. The same fixed price applies across the range.
What is usually wrong with a dead Alienware?
Charging circuits, DC jacks and GPU/CPU power stages that have taken years of sustained load. All diagnosable, and all repairable at component level.
Should the charger be sent with the machine?
Yes. The bench tests on the adapter the customer actually uses; a tired adapter reproduces 'the GPU is dying' for free.
How much does the repair cost?
£120 + VAT fixed (post both ways and a 12-month warranty included) or £180 + VAT in the priority slot. Diagnosis is £35 + VAT and is waived when the repair goes ahead.
