Acer Predator board repair
Predators are the value end of serious gaming laptops. Honest hardware, less exotic cooling, and a customer base that tends to run them hard for years. The board faults that follow are familiar to every bench: charging circuits and jacks, GPU power stages, liquid through the vent grilles, and firmware faults. Repaired at component level, fixed price, post both ways included.

What we fix on Predator boards
- No power: DC jack damage, charging circuits and rail faults
- Shutdowns and crashes under load: the power-stage faults behind "the GPU is dead" claims
- Liquid damage: cleaned and rebuilt, including dust-and-liquid combinations under the heatsink
- Port and USB-C faults on the models with PD charging
- Boot and firmware faults: powered but no post
- Previous-repair damage from earlier attempts
One maintenance truth for your bench
Predators live with their dust. Cooling that has been neglected for years turns every load fault into a thermal fault too, which is why the honest order for these machines is: clean and repaste first (a shop job), and if the machine still cuts under load, it graduates to the board bench with a much clearer history. Heat vs power is the triage that tells you which path you are on before anyone spends postage.
What to check before you post it
The no-power triage for machines that will not start, the GPU-fault guide for artefacts and display faults, and the boot-loop sort for machines that power but loop.
Predator questions
Which Predator models do you take?
Helios and Triton machines in all generations; Nitro machines are judged by the same rule. Laptops only, board work at the fixed price where the fault fits.
It shuts down mid-game. Is the GPU dead?
Often not: power-stage faults sit behind plenty of "dead GPU" claims. Heat versus power decides which fault you are quoting, and the bench measures the stages under load.
Do you fix DC jack damage?
Yes. The jack is replaced and its pads rebuilt as board-level work; a jack that dies often takes its solder pads with it, which is why it is not a swap-and-hope job.
How much does the repair cost?
£120 + VAT fixed (post both ways and a 12-month warranty included) or £180 + VAT in the priority slot. Diagnosis is £35 + VAT and is waived when the repair goes ahead.
