The kit behind the bench
Tools do not fix boards; knowing which one to pick up next does. Still, a bench is only as good as what is on it, and a laptop logic board repair runs on a specific set of categories. This is that list, and why each one earns its place.

The invisible tools
- Schematics and boardview files. The map of the board. Without them, diagnosis is guesswork through a microscope, and we do not diagnose by guessing.
- Chip programmers. For BIOS and firmware chips: reprogrammed or replaced properly, not reset with crossed fingers.
- ESD control. Mats, wrist straps and bags. Static damage is invisible when it happens and expensive when it surfaces.
- Donor boards. Labelled scrap stock, the source of parts that are no longer sold anywhere.
- A camera. Every job photographed at intake and after repair. The evidence is part of the job, not an extra.
What the kit means for your quote
Proper tooling is what makes a fixed price a real price. Measured diagnosis finds the actual fault, so the job fits the published price instead of drifting into open-ended labour, and when the fault is beyond the fixed price the kit proves it with photos and a revised quote. It is also why the 12-month warranty can exist at all: rework, not reflows. If the bench cannot diagnose something honestly, the diagnosis says so, and that saves your customer money too.
Tooling questions
Do you publish a specific tool list?
The categories, yes: heat, measurement, preparation, programming and ESD control are what the bench actually runs on. Model lists date quickly; the capability they describe is what matters to your job, and that is what this page covers.
Why does tooling matter to the price of a repair?
It is what makes a fixed price credible: faults are found by measuring, so jobs fit the published price instead of drifting into open-ended labour. When something is beyond the fixed price, the bench can prove it with photos and a revised quote.
What are donor boards for?
Parts that are no longer manufactured. A labelled donor board of the same model can supply a connector or chip that no supplier stocks, which keeps more machines repairable, at a lower price than the used-board lottery.
Does the kit include data recovery equipment?
The recovery desk is being set up and launches soon; trade accounts hear first. Everything needed for laptop logic board repair is on the bench today.
